WHAT DO YOU GET WITH MY BROWNIE RODS
All my rods are an eight-foot, two-piece construction using bamboo from the Tonkin province of China exclusively.
Each rod consists of a tip and butt rod blank. Blanks are dipped with two coats of petroleum-based spar varnish and wet sanded with 2000-grit paper between coats. Rods get one last dip of varnish over all the wrapped guides and ferrules.
Furnishings include nine snake guides, tip-top guide and stripping guide all hand wrapped with traditional silk thread. Guides are final coated with flex coat for additional protection from the elements.
Most Brownie rods are fitted with Super Z Ferrules. Newer rods are fitted with a carbon fiber ferrule reducing weight significantly, transferring energy from butt to tip more smoothly, increasing sensitivity, eliminating corrosion.
Garrison style reel seat butts and slide bands are enameled with fused powdered glass. Each reel seat butt and slide band is a unique interpretation of a fishy pattern; no two are alike.
I also offer a traditional black uploading or downloading real seat.
Reel handles are hand-turned from various exotic woods: Buckey Burl, Cocobolo, Bocote, Bubinga,Padauk, Madrone Burl, Afzelia Burl, Spalted Tamarind, etc.
Rod grips are turned from stacked cork rings and can be finished with rattan wraps.
Each rod takes forty to one-hundred hours to make.
